Cecil E. Witt, age 97, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 6, 2024. Born Saturday, June 4, 1927, in the Green River Community of Casey County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Earl & Mary Taylor Witt. His loving wife, whom he married Saturday, February 24, 1951, is Betty Estes Witt of Stanford. Cecil was a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired from Texas Eastern, where he worked as a bookkeeper. Cecil also previously worked at City of Stanford Waterworks and at Fox Funeral Home under the direction of Bill Fox. Cecil was a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church. Cecil loved to attend or listen to Lincoln County Patriots sporting events every chance he would get. He was also an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats fan.
In addition to his wife, Cecil leaves behind two daughters, Jill W. Williams (Chuck) of Stanford, and Gina L. Lynn (Jerry) of Stamping Ground, Kentucky; 7 grandchildren, Daniel C. Johnson of Charleston, South Carolina, Kristin Page Romano (Richard) of Westfield, New Jersey, Philip Seth Johnson (Jessica) of Lexington, Kentucky, Krista D. Offutt (Dwight) of Stamping Ground, Shana McDaniel of Stamping Ground, Shannon Fox of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Stephen Williams of Savannah, Georgia; 10 great-grandchildren, Hunter M. Johnson, Grayson Romano, Brooks Romano, Vivie Ann Johnson, Mason Johnson, Emerson Johnson, Levi Offutt, Lacey Offutt, Kaden Fox, and Lyla Fox; one great-great granddaughter, Emma Shay Johnson-Berger; one sister, Betty Sue Atwood (Alvie) of Stanford; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Belinda Gail Witt; and one sister, Virginia Witt Wilson (Harold).
A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Friday, October 11, 2024, at New Beginnings United Methodist Church.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Friday, at the church. Bro. Danny Bertram will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Cecil’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Daniel Johnson, Seth Johnson, Dwight Offutt, Jerry Lynn, Chuck Williams, and Steve Wilson will serve as Active Pallbearers. Wayne Terry, Powell Martin, Calvin Denham, Eddie Carter, Frankie Nunn, Jim Rigney, Max Miracle, Mike Leaverton, Richard Romano, Alvie Atwood, and Phil Williams and Sunday School members at New Beginnings United Methodist Church will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
