Carol Y. Shelton, age 85, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Stanford Care & Rehabilitation in Stanford, Kentucky. Born Monday, July 10, 1939, in Salem, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Rex & Virginia Maxine Patton Hauger. Carol was the widow of the late Chester Shelton, whom she married Tuesday, October 1, 1957, and preceded her in death Tuesday, October 18, 1994. Carol was a homemaker and enjoyed working on the farm with her husband. Carol was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and most recently attended Danville First Baptist Church. Carol was a people-person and never met a stranger. She enjoyed painting and arts and crafts of any kind, loved animals. Carol adored her two sisters, Ann & Marcia, and enjoyed spending time with them as much as she could.
Carol leaves behind two daughters, Trish Caudill of Waynesburg, and Peggy Shelton of Moreland, Kentucky, 10 grandchildren, Misty Vaught (Tommy Murphy), Jennifer Barrett (Jason Smith), Robert Duncan Jr., Joey Shelton, Adam Smail (Alex Rogers), Josh West, Amelia Akers, Chelsea Bordes, and Kyle Jones; one special great-grandson, Henley Caudill; 19 additional great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ann Lawson of Sellersburg, Indiana, and Marcia Reisert of New Albany, Indiana; one brother, Mike Hauger of Edgewater, Florida; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her husband and parents, Carol was preceded in death by one daughter, Tammy Shelton; one granddaughter, Jenna Caudill; one infant grandson, Dennis M. Barrett; one brother, Larry Hauger; and one infant sister, Loretta Kay Hauger.
A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Monday, August 12, 2024, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Monday, at the funeral home. Bro. Vola Brown will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Carol’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Misty Vaught, Tommy Murphy, Jennifer Barrett, Harlei Blevins, Adam Smail, and Kreek McKinney will serve as Active Pallbearers. Henley Caudill, the employees of Stanford Care & Rehabilitation, the employees of Heritage Hospice, Joey Shelton, and Kyle Jones will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
