Bonita (Denny) Powell

Bonita Denny Powell, 68 of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away peacefully August 18, 2020 with her husband, children and granddaughter by her side.

Bonita was born April 8, 1952 in Stanford to the late Edward and Bonnie (Hacker) Denny.

On September 13, 1967, as childhood friends making mud pies together, to dating and going to the movies, Bonita married her soul mate and true love, Lester. Together, they were married 53 years and raised 5 children together.

Bonita was a devoted and loving house wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, grandmother and great grandmother. She was of Pentecostal faith.

Bonita enjoyed watching hummingbirds feed from her feeder and admired the roses and flowers Lester had planted for her. She enjoyed going to flea markets, yard sales, collecting antiques and going for car rides in the country. Watching movies, playing card games and playing jokes on her special grandson Jeff were also some of her favorite family times. Bonita will be so deeply missed by us all.

Those left to celebrate her life are her husband Lester, three daughters, Phyllis (Freddie), Dorothy (Clinton), Michelle (Donnie). A very special grand daughter Leslie that Lester and Bonita raised as their own daughter. 14 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. One very special sister, Julie Hale and one special brother, Johnny (Phyllis). Bonita was also blessed with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Bonita was preceded in death by two very special brothers, Eddie Lee and Freeman Denny. Two very special sisters, Fredia and Betty. A very special brother in law, Paul Hale, a very special sister in law, Doris Denny and a special grandson, Austin. Bonita loved, cherished and missed all her brothers and sisters so much.

 A Graveside service will be held Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Freddie Holcomb, Michael Holcomb, Paul Hale, Jr., John Denny, Johnny Denny Jr., and Josh Shepherd will serve as Active Pallbearers.

A Private Visitation will be held at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.
