Bennie Shelton

Bennie Shelton, age 58, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2021, in Nicholasville, Kentucky. Born Tuesday, August 13, 1963, in Lincoln County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Eugene & Lillian Padgett Shelton. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Meadows Shelton, whom he married on Saturday, September 21, 1985. Bennie was owner and operator of Shelton’s Trucking in Waynesburg. Bennie loved his family, his truck and trucking. He loved to laugh and always enjoyed life, but most of all he loved the Lord. Bennie was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

In addition to his wife, Bennie leaves behind two daughters, Jessica (Shawn) Taylor of Waynesburg  and Becky (Mikey) Sumner of Eubank, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Lily Mae Sumner and Lucy Jo Taylor; six brothers, Don (Wanda) Leach of Waynesburg, Joe (Lynda) Leach of Waynesburg, Tommy (Charlotte) Shelton of Waynesburg, Richard (Dottie) Shelton of Waynesburg, David (Leisa) Shelton of Casey County, Kentucky and Michael (Judy) Shelton of Waynesburg; six sisters, Deloris Bunch of Waynesburg, Ann (Elmer) Ison of Waynesburg, Faye (Carrol Ray) Snow of Bethel Ridge, Kentucky, Vickie (Louis) Jones of Hamilton, Ohio, Susie (Jimmy) Manuel of Waynesburg and Frieda (Tim) Reed of Cincinnati, Ohio; father and mother-in-law Lester and Shirley Meadows of Geneva, Kentucky; sister-in-law, Anna Mae (Maynard) Hoskins of Geneva; and several nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Eugene and Lilian Padgett Shelton; and two brothers, Verlon and Gary Shelton.

Public Visitation will be held 5-8 PM Sunday, September 5, 2021, at Pleasant View Baptist, Waynesburg, Kentucky.

A Second Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Monday, September 6, 2021, at Pleasant View Baptist Church, Waynesburg, Kentucky.

The Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, September 6, 2021, at the church. Bro Kevin Foley & Bro. Larry Crenshaw will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg. Nathan Thompson, Eric Brown, Brady Brown, Dave Sims, Chad Sinkhorn, Kris Clark, Skyler Thompson, Dayson Sinkhorn, Wade Rector and Jonathan Carstedt will serve as Active Pallbearers. Mikey Sumner, Shawn Taylor, Ronnie Snow, Don Leach, Joe Leach, Tommy Shelton, Richard Shelton, David Shelton, Michael Shelton, Maynard Hoskins, Bobby Ashley and David Kilby will serve as honorary pallbearers.
