Barbara “Granny” Turpin, age 74, of Lancaster, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, Kentucky. Born Tuesday, January 4, 1949, Bluefield, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James Robert and Helen Hall Hoseclaw. Granny attended Paint Lick Church of God. She enjoyed watching live sales on Facebook, loved her family, reading the Bible and her special dog “Kibbles.”
Granny leaves behind her children, Robert Clyde McCarty (Allison) of Somerset, Kentucky, Louanna Jean Shirks (Jimmy), of Somerset, Eddie Keith McCarty (Heather) of Rincon, Georgia, and Crystal May Purcell (Joseph) of Lancaster; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and one brother, Jimmy Hoseclaw (Louise) of Seagoville, Texas.
A Public Visitation will be held 1-2PM Friday, March 10, 2023, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Friday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dwight David Farthing officiating the service. Burial will follow in Jacobs Hill Cemetery. Keelan Cook, Kris Cook, Timmy Phelps, Chandler Phelps, Kyle Upchurch, TJ Bryant, and Daniel Martin will serve as Active Pallbearers. Jimmy Shirks will serve as an Honorary Pallbearer.
