Ardean Elliott Hicks, age 85, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Stanford Care & Rehabilitation in Stanford, Kentucky. Born Saturday, February 19, 1938, in West Liberty, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late William Walter & Effie Atkins Elliott. Ardean was the widow of the late Garland Hicks, whom she married Saturday, February 18, 1956, and preceded her in death Thursday, November 23, 2017. Ardean was a homemaker and member of Waynesburg Pentecostal Church. Ardean enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, going to church, and sewing.
Ardean leaves behind one son, Jim Hicks (Rachel) of Waynesburg; one daughter, Angela Palmer of England; two granddaughters, Hannah Hicks Hinds (Austin Wayne) of Stanford, and Shelby Hicks Dye (Bryce) of Waynesburg; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Wayne Hinds, Owen Walker Hinds, and Sadie Olivia Hinds; a special niece, Maxine Elmore of Ohio; and several extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ardean was preceded in death by one daughter, Charlene Stringer; four brothers, Ernest Elliott, Winford Elliott, Earl Elliott, and Clifford Elliott; and three sisters, Carrie Atkins, Mazie Cassidy, and Josephine Barker.
A Public Visitation will be held 5-8PM Sunday, June 11, 2023, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.
A Second Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Monday, June 12, 2023, at Waynesburg Pentecostal Church.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Monday, at the church. Bro. Junior Skaggs will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Ardean’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery.
