Allene McKinney

Allene McKinney, age 82, of Mitchellsburg, Kentucky, formerly of Berea, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022, at her home.  Born Wednesday, February 7, 1940, in Jackson County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late John & Para Lee Clemmons Flannery.  Allene was the widow of the late Edward McKinney, whom she married Thursday, September 26, 1957, and preceded her in death Wednesday, January 16, 2002.  Allene was a farmer and member of Stanford Church of Christ.  Allene will be remembered as a strong-willed woman and enjoyed fishing and playing Bingo in her spare time.

Allene leaves behind one daughter, Donna Benedict (Bryan) of Mitchellsburg; three sons, Robert “Bobby” McKinney” (Rachel Morgan) and James “Jimmy” McKinney (Nellie) both of Berea, Kentucky, and Michael McKinney (Samantha) of Hiawassee, Georgia; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Buck Flannery (Elizabeth) of Garrard County, Kentucky, and Darrell Flannery (Carol Lee) of Richmond, Kentucky; two sisters, Elsie Chappell of Danville, Kentucky, and Sylvia Hines (Billy) of Stanford, Kentucky; and several extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Troy Lee McKinney; three brothers, Clyde Flannery, Ted Flannery, and Bill Flannery; and two sisters, Fay Underwood (Sparks), and Linda Riley.

Cremation Rites have been honored.  A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held 3:00PM Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the home of Joyce Walton:  3293 Gillespie Pike, Paint Lick, KY 40461.
