Velda Cress Combs

Velda Cress Combs, age 81, of KY Hwy 328 West in Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at her residence.  Born Thursday, October 21, 1937 in Eubank, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Estill & Susie Glass Cress.  Her loving husband, whom she married April 1998, is Gary W. Combs of Eubank.  Velda worked as a cook, for over 20 years, at Waynesburg Elementary.  Velda was a member of Pilot Baptist Church, and enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. 

In addition to her husband, Velda leaves behind two step-sons, Chris Combs and Dale Combs (Kathy) both of Eubank; six step-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Charles Owen Cress (Geraline), Verlan Cress (Reva), Bob Cress (Carolyn), Shannon Cress, Linton Cress (Connie) and Johnny Cress (Wanda) all of Eubank, and Earlin “Dude” Cress (Alane) of Waynesburg, Kentucky; four sisters, Shirley Johnson (Lewis) of Eubank, Marslene Littrell of Tennessee, Charlotte Cress of Science Hill, Kentucky, and Linda Cress of Eubank; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Velda was preceded in death by four brothers, Odell Cress, Olen Cress, Leles Cress, and Daris Cress. 

A Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Monday, September 16, 2019 at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. Gordon Chaney officiating the service.  Burial will follow in Cress Cemetery. 

The Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Monday at the funeral home.
