Stella Mae Gillespie, age 86, of East Hwy 70 in Eubank, Kentucky, formerly of Bluefield, West Virginia, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky. Stella was born Saturday, May 21, 1932 in Tazewell, Virginia. She was the widow of the late Acie W. Gillespie, who preceded her in death April 7, 2013. Stella worked as a cook for Dairy Queen for 35 years. In her spare time, Stella enjoyed cooking, flowers, and gardening.
Stella leaves behind one daughter, Bonnie Hill (Paul, Jr.) of Eubank; two sons, Isaac Gillespie of Concord, North Carolina, and Daniel Gillespie of Greensboro, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Bryn Ramey (Jolena) of London, Kentucky, Dawn Renfro (Lonnie) of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Benjamin Gillespie (Felicity) of Rutherford, Virginia; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Major Proffitt of Flint, Michigan; and special friend, Barbara DeBord of Somerset.
In addition to her husband, Stella was preceded in death by her mother, Sadie Proffitt; and three brothers, H.P. Proffitt, Yacht Proffitt, and Jack Proffitt.
A Visitation will be held 5-8PM Monday, January 7, 2019 at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.
Private Burial will take place Tuesday, January 8, 2018 in Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Virginia.
