Melvin Lee Benedict, age 77, of Kings Mountain, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Born Saturday, October 18, 1941 in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Fred Davis and Edith Vermillion Benedict. His loving wife, whom he married on November 16, 1961 is Drucilla Long Benedict of Kings Mountain. Melvin was a US Army Veteran. He worked at the high lines as a Lineman for L.E. Meyers for 30 years and owned Mel’s Market for 25 years. Melvin drove a school bus for 20 years and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He attended White Oak Baptist Church, enjoyed fishing and UK basketball.
In addition to his wife, Melvin leaves behind one son, Michael Davis (Tina) of Lewisburg, Ohio; two daughters, Shelly Aliec King (Bobby) of Waynesburg, Kentucky and Kimberly Sue Mason (Clem) of Stanford, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his first great grandchild, Natasha Benedict; one brother, Bud Benedict; one sister, Sue McKinney; and his best friend, Bobby Woods.
A Funeral Service will be held 12:00PM Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Taylor officiating the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Bobby King, Dylan King, Clem Mason, Jacob Mason, Michael Lee Benedict and Jeff Benedict will serve as Active Pallbearers. Mike Benedict, K.O. Owens, Connie Bodner, Kenneth Correll, Jackie Haggard and Kenneth Snow will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Visitation will be held 10AM till service time Saturday at the Funeral Home.
