James Edward “Jim” Disney, age 75, of Maywood Circle in Stanford, Kentucky, passed Thursday, December 27, 2018 at VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. Born Friday, June 18, 1943 in Stanford, he was the son of the late John & Ruth Hunter Disney. His loving wife, whom he married April 16, 1965, is Sherrill Woods Disney of Stanford. Jim was a US Army Veteran, who served in Vietnam 1969-1970. Jim was a Purple Heart Recipient and a Bronze Star Recipient. Jim was a meat cutter, for IGA in Stanford, for 25 years; and was the Assistant Manager at Lowe’s in Danville, Kentucky, for 18 years. Jim was a member of the VFW Post #345 in Stanford, member of the Stanford Lions Club, member of the Cedar Creek Sportsman Club, previous member of the Masonic Lodge, Shriners, and the Eastern Star, and was a member of Stanford Baptist Church. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed wood working.
In addition to his wife, Jim leaves behind one son, Jim Ed Disney (Tammy) of Nicholasville, Kentucky; one daughter, JoAnn Disney of Stanford; three grandchildren, Austin Disney (Ashley) of Nicholasville, Jacob Disney (Scarlett) of Nicholasville, and Lyric Harris of Stanford; one great-granddaughter, Baylee Disney of Nicholasville; one sister, Draxie Gooch (Sammy) of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister-in-law, Judy Disney of Louisville, Kentucky; one sister-in-law by marriage, Sharon Woods of Crab Orchard, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Orris John Disney and Howard Disney; and one sister, Doris Disney.
A Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Fox & Friend Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Bramel officiating the service. Burial, with full military honors performed by Caswell-Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion, will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Austin Disney, Jacob Disney, Jason Disney, Jeff Disney, O.J. Disney, Johnny Wilmot, and Ralph Wilmot will serve as Active Pallbearers. Cassy Elmore, Kathy Scott, Glenda Gibson, Jessie Bryant, Kenny Bryant, Patrick Bryant, Tony Bryant, and Joe Bryant will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The Patriot Guard Riders will also assist with military honors during the visitation and funeral service.
The Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
