Gordon Whittaker, age 74, of Oliver Bastin Road in Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at his residence. Born Tuesday, November 21, 1944 in Garrard County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Marshall & Hazel Montgomery Whittaker. His loving wife, whom he married May 1, 1964, is Betty Gail Salyers Whittaker of Waynesburg. Gordon was a farmer, worked at Asplundh, and was a member of Bryantsville Baptist Church. Gordon loved the outdoors, and enjoyed riding horses, and enjoyed coon hunting.
In addition to his wife, Gordon leaves behind one son, William Shane Whittaker of Waynesburg; five grandchildren, Jacob Whittaker of Danville, Kentucky, Wesley Whittaker of Hustonville, Kentucky, Cali McCurley of Texas, Maryssa Moseley (Colin) of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, and David Edwards of Northern Kentucky; one brother, William Arthur Whittaker of Lancaster, Kentucky; and one sister, Minnie Lawson of Garrard County.
In addition to his parents, Gordon was preceded in death by one son, Gordon Kenneth Whittaker; and one sister, Ruby Marie Snowden.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Pittman officiating the service. Burial will follow in KP Hall Cemetery in Kings Mountain, Kentucky. Scott Beedy, Scott Hamner, Eric Hamner, Jeff Walton, Mike Walton, and Ellis Fox will serve as Active Pallbearers. Don Salyers, William Whittaker, Bryan Salyers, Paul Lawson, and Billy Connor will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The Visitation will be held 12:00PM-2:00PM Saturday at the funeral home.
