James Edward Logan’s Life Story

James Edward Logan was born Saturday, December 7, 1940, in Stanford, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Lawrence Logan and Annie Cathryn Simpson Howard. 

James acknowledged Christ as his Savior at an early age at Boneyville Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Harris.

James graduated from Lincoln County High School, on Water Street, at the age of 18.  He worked at National Casket (18 years) in Lancaster, Kentucky, ATR factory (19 years) in Danville, Kentucky, and Walmart (11 years) in Stanford.  James was a member at Boneyville Baptist Church for many years.  He was a member of the Deacon Board.  Deacon Logan sung with the Free Will Travelers (group).  One of his favorite songs was “Sending Up My Timber”. 

He was known by many.  James sometimes could be a practical joker (alias Jai Bo).  He loved to laugh and cut up with his friends and co-workers. 

James E. Logan slipped quietly away as he lay sleeping at Frankfort Care & Rehabilitation on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.

James E. Logan is preceded in death by his parents; son, James Logan II; brother, Willie A. Simpson; and sister, Iola Simpson.

James leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Anna Pearl Moore Logan of Frankfort, Kentucky; two sons, Vincent Logan (Alice) of Richmond, Kentucky, and Vandree Logan of Nicholasville, Kentucky; two daughters, Jennifer C. Pauley (Larry) of Roanoke, Virginia, and Mary Lucinda Logan of Nashville, Tennessee; one step-daughter, Janice Hagan (Thomas) of Midway, Kentucky; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three siblings, John O. Routt (Marie) of Stanford, Viola Wilkinson of Stanford, and Chester V. Goode of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; one aunt, Irene “Aunt Tiny” Gooch (Ernest) of Stanford; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Barthenia Brown of Stanford, Sara Givens of Stanford, and Al Joseph Logan of Stanford.

A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Boneyville Baptist Church. 

The Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Tuesday, at the church.  Rev. Christopher Simpson and Rev. Robert Coulter will officiate the service.  The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on James’ memorial page of the funeral home’s website. 

Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery.  Deacon Al Joseph Logan, Timothy Alcorn, Sidney Alcorn, James Wilkinson, John O. Routt, Jr., and Glenn Gooch will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Stephan Wilkinson, Clarence Gooch, Hubert “Ned” Helm, George Hocker, and Frankie Gooch will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
