Etta Pearl "Cricket" Givens-Williams Obituary

God saw that your road had gotten rough, your hills harder to climb; so He gently closed your eyes, and whispered, “Peace Be Thine”.

Etta Pearl “Cricket” Givens-Williams was born Saturday, September 19, 1925, in the Turnersville community of Lincoln County, Kentucky, to the late George Taylor Givens & Mary Allen Hunn Givens, and gently slipped away as she lay sleeping at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky, at 7:40PM Saturday, February 24, 2024.

Etta professed Christ at an early age and lived her life in a Godly way.  She graduated from Lincoln High School in Stanford.  After graduation, she moved to Brooklyn, New York and retired from AT&T after 50 plus years, working as an Information System Specialist.

Etta was an excellent seamstress.  She made most of her own clothing.  She also loved crocheting and quilting.  She, along with a friend, reupholstered furniture.  Etta also enjoyed collecting antique pieces and restoring them.  Etta enjoyed keeping up on current affairs and genealogy.

Etta was preceded in death by her parents, George Taylor Givens and Mary Allen Hunn Givens; step-mother, Sarah Hocker Givens; two brothers, Barney Ray Givens and James Taylor Givens; two sisters, Lena B. Givens and Lillian E. “Sis” Logan; and one niece, Patricia Givens.

Etta leaves to cherish her memory, her niece and caretaker, Sheila Logan-Benjamin of Stanford; nieces and nephews, James Scott Logan (Rose) of Aurora, Colorado, Brenda Logan-Cofer (Charles) of Liberty, Kentucky, and Anthony Taylor Logan, Sr. of Richmond, Kentucky, Melony Demings of Nashville, Tennessee, Lisa Walters (Kenneth) of Pittsburg, California, Rhonda Hollie (George) of Pittsburg, California, and James Smith (Shelley) of Texas; sister-in-law, Sandra Givens of California; a host of great-nieces and great-nephews who mourn her passing; and special friends, Deborah Moran, Debora Lawson, Jill Dawson, Chandra Baughman, Anna Napier, and Barthenia Brown.

A special thank you to the staff at Landmark of Lancaster for their special care of Etta over the past several years.
