Rachel Tichenor Southard

Rachel Tichenor Southard, age 99, of Fisherville (Jefferson County), Kentucky, formerly of Lexington (Fayette County), Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at her residence.  Born Friday, February 1, 1918 in McHenry (Ohio County), Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Walter Dudley & Hazel Roper Tichenor.  She was the widow of the late Richard Barnes Southard, Sr., who preceded her in death December 6, 1992.  Rachel retired from Nursing Services at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Lexington. 

Rachel leaves behind one son, Richard Southard, Jr. (Karen) of Fisherville; four grandchildren, Eric Southard of Fisherville, Alexandra Southard of Savannah, Georgia, Elizabeth Southard of New Albany, Indiana, and Zachary Southard of Fisherville; one brother, Joseph Tichenor of Louisville, Kentucky; a special niece, Susan Mercke of Louisville; and several other nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dudley Tichenor; two infant brothers, William Raymond & Bennett Tichenor; and four sisters, Martha Brown, Mary Helen Grant, Jane Hicks, and Margaret Green. 

A Graveside Service will be held 1:30PM Monday, October 16, 2017 at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, Kentucky with Bro. Dan Russell officiating the service.  Burial will immediately follow the service.
