Welcome to the memorial page for

Lillian Elizabeth Givens Logan

June 23, 1924 ~ May 25, 2017 (age 92) 92 Years Old

God saw that your road had gotten rough, your hills harder to climb; so he gently closed your eyes and whispered, "Peace Be thine."

Lillian Elizabeth (Sis) Givens Logan, born June 23, 1924, in the Turnersville Community of Lincoln County, to the late George Taylor Givens & Mary Allen Hunn Givens, and slipped quietly away as she lay sleeping at Landmark of Lancaster (Christian Care Center) at 1:55am on Thursday, May 25, 2017.

Lillian professed her faith in Christ at an early age, and was a faithful servant and choir member at First Missionary Baptist Church in Stanford, Kentucky.  Lillian started her career as a cook at Lincoln School, which is currently the church.  After the integration of schools, she completed a Nurse’s Aide course and began a career at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford, and worked there until her health failed and she retired.  Lillian was married, for 60 years, to James H. Logan, Jr.  To that union, James Scott, Sheila Renee, Brenda Mae, and Anthony Taylor Logan were born.

Lillian loved cooking, crocheting, quilting, needlepoint, sewing, flower gardening, bird and butterfly watching.  She loved to share her hobbies and crafts with family and friends, and would often carry floral arrangements to her patients at Fort Logan Hospital. Lillian was an avid reader and enjoyed genealogy and anything related to American Indian Culture.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, James H. (Sonny) Logan, Jr.; her parents, George Taylor Givens & Mary Allen Hunn Givens; step-mother, Sarah Hocker Givens; two brothers, Barney Ray Givens, James Taylor Givens; one sister, Lena Belle Givens; and one grandson, James Matthew Logan.

Lillian leaves to cherish her memories one sister, Etta P. Williams of Stanford; two sons, James Scott Logan (Rose) of Aurora, Colorado, and Anthony Taylor Logan, Sr. (Mary) of Berea, Kentucky; two daughters, Sheila Renee Logan-Benjamin of Stanford, and Brenda Logan-Cofer (Charles T.) of Liberty, Kentucky; one sister-in-law, Sandra Givens of San Pablo, California; six grandchildren, Tasha Marie Logan-Wheeler (Dashan), Anthony T. Logan, Jr. (Sarah), Christopher Logan, Desiray Palmer, Demond Nixon (Lynette), and Brandon Benjamin (Meghan); eight-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who mourn her passing.
